I'm one of those nit-picky people who mentally highlights typographical and grammatical errors while reading a book or perusing a menu; who points out the frequent misuse of a word by the local TV weather person; who cannot only correctly spell nearly every word in the English language, but can provide a complete definition of the term, and likely a list of synonyms, as well.

My name is Melissa Bailey, and I have made my living as a freelance technical and business writer for nearly 30 years, because of two high-level truths I've learned about creators of products and providers of services:

They are too familiar with their subject matter to write objectively about it
"Documentation" is a dirty word; a nasty task that no-one wants to do, and it can certainly show in their written materials!
